On October 2nd 2020, the wet acid scrubber has been installed in the first host farm in Catalonia. The Integrated Organic Waste Management (GIRO) group from IRTA, together with a delegation from the University of Milan, has installed the wet scrubber prototype in the first host farm, located in Sant Eulalia de Riuprimer. The equipment – designed by the partner company Rota Guido Srl – will purify the air in the pigsty, with the aim to improve animal and workers welfare, and reduce GHG and NH3 emissions to the environment.
Air quality monitoring and control devices – designed and developed by the partner NUVAP Srl – were also installed. This equipment will help to evaluate air quality within each of the rooms and will control the functioning of the air treatment prototype.
