Installation of NUVAP control units and dry filter at the Cascina Antegnatica in Lodi

Between June and July 2020, the project noticeboards were delivered to all project partners and to the farms hosting project activities in both Italy and Spain. Noticeboards are large banners that identify project sites, explain activities and objectives defined according to the partner involved, and give relevance to the funding received through the LIFE programme of the EU.

On 20 November 2020, the NUVAP devices were installed. The devices, designed and developed by project partner NUVAP Srl for the control of environmental and microclimatic parameters, were placed in three different compartments, i.e. the control room, the room with the dry filter, and the room with the wet, acid solution scrubber. These devices will allow to continuously monitor air quality inside the sheds. Furthermore, the collected data will be available and downloadable through a Cloud platform made available by NUVAP.

On the same day, the dry abatement device was installed. Its efficiency will be tested for a period of 9 months before being moved to the second Italian pig farm involved in project activities.

Wet scrubber ignition

On 27 November 2020, project partner Rota Guido Srl started the operation of the wet acid solution scrubber at the Cascina Antegnatica farm under the supervision of members from the Department of Environmental Science and Policy of the University of Milan. The tank filling and device ignition operations were recorded and transmitted to project partner IRTA in order to facilitate the replication, in the Spanish sites, of the key steps for the correct ignition and operation of the abatement device.
